Sinful Intent by Chelle Bliss
Contemporary Romantic Suspense. 1st standalone in a series. Spin off of Men of Inked Series.
I am reading the Alfa Pi Series by Chelle Bliss out of order, something I never do. I listened to Wicked Impulse (book 3) first, then went back to book one, Sinful Intent. I had to see where we first meet Morgan and his mom Fran.
“Oh God, was I going to be stuck with Ma as my plus-one for an eternity?”
Honestly, I listened to this a while ago and I am finally getting around to a review, so this won’t be as detailed as most reviews because I don’t remember it as well as I would if I reviewed right away.
If you are new to Chelle Bliss, the Alfa PI series (and this book) can totally stand alone. But if you are a long-term fan of Chelle, you’ll love her visits with all of the Gallo clan. Morgan is a cousin who just left the Army and is forced by his overbearing mom to go to a wedding in Florida. While there, he is offered a position the the Alfa PI agency. His first client is Race True (Yes, that’s her name), a business woman who is being blackmailed.
“I read somewhere that a pussy snaps back to virginal tightness after being empty for so long. I wouldn’t be shocked if mine was sealed closed with cobwebs inside.”
To be honest, I didn’t really like either character at first. Race was kind of a bitch and Morgan was kind of a jerk. But after a while I changed my opinion and began to like them both. The connection between the couple was instant and the sexual tension was off the charts. Plus, I thought she had some funny inner thoughts.
As the story went on it was filled with fun banter, lots of interesting sexy times, family love and a little suspense.
“She made me want to be a better version of myself. No longer needing to protect the soldiers of my past, I made her safety and happiness my priorities.”
I loved how hard Morgan tried to behave and not sleep with his first client, but the connection between them was just too strong.
“In all honesty, I hadn’t saved Race True. She’d saved me. Giving me a life full of love and everything I’d always needed but never knew I’d wanted.”
Likes:
- Fast-paced and exciting.
- Fun banter.
- Visits with the Gallos.
- Stands alone well.
- Very little angst.
- Lots of humor, especially from Fran, his mom.
Dislikes:
- Never totally fell in love with either character.
- I couldn’t stand her narration.
Narration:
She over-acted and tried way too hard with the accents. It totally didn’t work for me. He was fine.
The Down & Dirty:
I am really enjoying Chelle Bliss’s writing in the Alfa Pi series. Filled with sexy alphas, funny banter, family, suspense, romance and hot sex, it has everything I love. It took me a bit longer to bond with and root for the characters, but in the end, I loved them.
Rating: 4.25 stars, 4.5 Heat, 3.5 Narration
